The Bush legacy in cold, hard numbers

The Breakdown of the Deficit

81.2% Increase in National Debt under Bush:
$5.871 Trillion in 2OO1
$10.640 Trillion in 2OO8
--------------------------
$4.769 Trillion Increase (81.2% Increase in National Debt)

44% Increase in National Debt Under Obama
$10.569 Trillion Jan 31st 2OO9
$15.223 Trillion Jan 14th 2O12
--------------------------------
$4.659 Trillion Increase (44.1% Increase in National Debt)

Increase Since 2001: $15.223 - $5.871 = $9.532 Trillion
Bush's PERCENTAGE of increase $4.769 Trillion / $9.532 Trillion = 50%

BUSH:

$3.56 Trillion or 76% (3.56/4.659) of the increase was Bush CARRY OVER:

$910 Billion = Interest on BUSH Debt 2009/2011
$360 Billion = BUSH Iraq War Spending 2009/2011
$319 Billion = BUSH TARP/Bailout Balance from 2008 (as of May 2010)
$419 Billion = Bush Recession Caused Drop in taxes
$190 Billion = Bush Medicare Drug Program 2009/2011
$211 Billion = Bush Medicare Part-D 2009/2011
$771 Billion = Bush Tax Cuts 2009/2011

$4.769 TRILLION from 8 Bush years
$3.560 TRILLION of Bush Carry Over

$8.329 TRILLION - Due to BUSH

Bush's PERCENTAGE (Corrected) $8.329 Trillion / $9.532 Trillion = 87.4%

87.4% of National Debt Increase caused By Bush's Programs (2001 to 2012)
12.6% of Increase caused by Obama’s Programs.
And Bush grew the federal employee’s numbers by 82%.

As the economy rightens, we finally see a glimmer of sanity in the debt to deficit problem. When we finally eliminate the ongoing Bush deficit and interest, Obama would have more than halved the deficit.

I am not a political person at all. I really couldn't care less about politics. That being said, you are looking at 2 full terms under Bush, and not even a full term under Obama... this comparison wont be valid for another 4 years. Who knows what it will be like then. Regardless, the US is falling deeper into a shit hole with California leading the way. I don't care who the president is, its going to take a lot more than 4 years to fix. That is all.

but yet republicans are constantly trying to do the same thing. they try to pull numbers to make obama look bad. so when the facts dont look good for them, suddenly its "hey you cant compare"? lol

To be fair... Lets look at Obamanomics:

Unemployment 01/2009: 7.80%
Unemployment 05/2012: 8.20%

Total Jobs 01/2009: 133,600,000
Total Jobs 05/2012: 133,000,000

Food Stamp Recipients 01/2009: 32,000,000
Food Stamp Recipients 05/2012: 46,000,000

Gas Prices 01/2009: $1.74
Gas prices 05/2012: $3.73
(Granted, National Average.. CA was way more than $1.74)

Public Debt 01/2009: $6,370,000,000,000
Public Debt 05/2012: 10,950,000,000,000

Poverty Rate 01/2009: 13.20%
Poverty Rate 05/2012: 15.10%

.... I'm just saying, Bush wasn't perfect. In fact, he was far from it. But Obama is way worse. And to be fair, the economy was already going down hill when Obama took Office in January 2009.

But come on, what has all that "hope and change" gotten us? More unemployment, rights taken away, and a president who if anyone says anything bad about him throws a hissy fit of a speech (and if that person is a government employee pretty much gets fired.)
